Post Game Scrimmage Notes

Girls,
Job well done at our scrimmage.  Playing a clubs well coached top u15 team that you had just lost to 2-0 and tied 0-0 a year ago, and then winning 3-0 shows your tremendous growth!  That team has some really good players that played on a strong HHS freshmen team, along with many girls that played on a really strong HHS JV team.

FIRST HALF---
Good:
1st to ball
hustle
some decent passing
shot for goal
few s4 moves
defense on the ball
Olivia being an option and letting defense know

Need improvement:
switching fields both out of the back and the middle.
Strikers linking up better with one another
payed into pressure too much

SECOND HALF--
Good:
1st to ball
hustle
putting together 5 and 6 passes in a row!
Switching fields more especially in the middle (this opened up so MUCH and made their defense work a lot harder, finally breaking them and showing their lack of stamina!).
Finishing on a couple more goals
defense on the ball
S4 skills by MANY!
much better decision making
Olivia being an option and letting defense know
Talk

Needed improvement:
Stamina by many players
Rotation on high pressure, especially last 10 minutes (got us in a few predicaments where they almost scored).
A few mental lapses on defense that may have cost us if the team we played was in better shape, but I felt we covered well for each other.

Gary, Eric and I met after the game to discuss our team, and action plan items moving forward.  We discussed how many mistakes may have come from a result of lack of stamina.   This means that when your legs/lungs go, you are less likely to make an accurate pass, or skillful move, or win a 50/50 ball, etc...    We have a great plan moving forward to make sure our team continues to get the practice in all skillsets necessary (both technical and tactical).  But, we will begin tonight with breaking down defensively on the ball, and building stamina.

Great job girls.  I was really proud of your play.  Especially playing outside for only the second time this year!

Coach Brian
