Ladies,

Congratulations on a very strong win today, 15-1. This was probably the best team effort I have seen from this team. You ALL played as a team today both distributing the ball and finishing. Today we saw a lot of skill, passing to feet, passing to open space and 100% effort from each player on the field until subbed. We heard the other coach trying to build his team up by telling his team not to get down, that this was probably the best team they will ever play (What a compliment to each of you).

One of the things I saw today was a total selfless game by each of you looking for the best options. The final score showed that end result. Chris Sturm (Thanks for helping Chris) was totally impressed with the team from the coaching sideline. He told me he got to see positive things with this team that you don’t see from the other sideline.

Let’s keep this momentum going into the spring season!

  1. Congrats girls. Sorry I couldn't be there today, but this message from Coach Gary makes me proud. I know I heard some girls say that the team you played was really not good. LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY THIS- Just a couple years ago, you were a team that could have gotten beat by some of the least talented teams around and beat decent teams. Your hard work has allowed you to have games like today where you were able to have your way with another team, have fun, practice your skills, passing, and finishing. Do not ever look at these games as being a waste of time. You EARNED these types of games, and practicing your S4 skills against live defense is a great way at testing the skills you've learned and a "step up" over testing them against a punching bag at WieFit ("Pete & Shaniqua")! GREAT JOB GIRLS!!!!

  2. I remember the parents meeting we had 1 year and 1/2 ago and we talked about possession soccer and it would take time to for you to truly understand. These last few games you have really shown how you have grown in this area. The play to feet is light years from where we were back then, the runs off the ball to make open spaces and to receive the ball and know where to pass it to next was incredible today. With indoor all these skills we can be work on along with refined footwork on the ball to get out of tough situations. There were some instances of one touch passing was the best I have seen so far. As Brian said this game today is not a waste because you tromped them, having success while you are playing the "beautiful game" beautifully as you did today will only make you better, build your confidence in yourselves each other. Please keep this same mentality for the next 7 games, not over confident but confident that you are a great team and you will put on a beautiful show when you walk on the field if you all work hard and trust each other.

Keep diligently working on you s4 skills and your juggling through the next couple months. We still need to raise our level on 1st touch and both those activities will help.

    Great job today,

    Coach Eric
