Girls,
I'll take the win. We started off strong, playing really good high pressure. Sheena made a good pass and Kylie stayed composed with a nice finish, using a quick toe poke. I felt the first 15 minutes, we were moving to space, making good passes, great runs, and were moving to get open for girls.
For whatever reason, we tended to slow down. I felt girls were dribbling a little much when the simple pass made more sense. then girls tended to dribble to much because the simple pass wasn't available--meaning teammates were not being proactive checking to space, but instead were standing next to their defender.
Olivia played an amazing game saving us. Trust me, I am very happy we did enough to beat a team 1-0 that we had tied the last two previous meetings!
I just know that if we play like that this Sunday, against the other first place team with us that we would probably not get the Win (this is also the team that we were co-champions with last season-FC Bellbrook).
We'll go over stuff such as continuing our dribble to goal instead of pulling up on the 1v1 breakaways (get into the box at least, trying to get to endline to slot in (if they are denying your shot on goal). This will always result in either 1. a cross for goal, 2. a shot on goal if possible, 3. a foul on them resulting in a PK, or 4. them blocking the cross usually giving us a corner kick. All of those are better than pulling up just before the 18 yard box, unless you see someone trailing for sure. But if you still bring it to the endline, and slot it in, that trailer should be there to finish.
Other things we need to go over--when target (striker) needs to dribble versus one touch (think "up, back, through).
I did see many good passing combinations (usually give and goes). Was happy to see that. That showed me girls passing was moving after the pass.
Anyway, we came up with the W, and lets build from there. Let's also think of HOW we can get that same intensity we had our first game Saturday when we won every single ball the entire game, and moved into space for passes every time!
3-0 girls, let's continue this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
